Paint & Pour

I’m Jamie, an artist and housewares buyer based in Rockville, Maryland, where I live with my husband, twin sons, and a Labradoodle named Gem.

As a self-taught artist, I started creating mixed-media pieces in high school and continued to do so throughout my college years at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology.

However, my artwork took on a new dimension after I got married and struggled to start a family. I found art making to be a cathartic outlet where I could work through my feelings about infertility while creating something beautiful that pleased my eye and soothed my soul. I finish my abstract paintings by filling sterile IVF needles with ink, then releasing the ink over the canvas in a way that builds up color and form through careful gesture and thoughtful placement.

I’ve accepted private commissions since 2016 and in 2017, my work was exhibited all over the US through The ART of Infertility, a non-profit group striving to break the silence around the experience of infertility through art and storytelling. Since 2017, I’ve collaborated with the lifestyle brand Oliver Gal to print my artwork on items. When I’m not painting, I work as a lifestyle buyer for gifts & glassware at Total Wine. Before that, I was a Buyer at West Elm and Amazon.

I’m always inspired by global design, specifically interior design, and I’m particularly drawn to the interior
design movements coming out of Australia.
