Infertility Awareness Shabbat 2023

We are excited to partner with synagogues across the globe for our 8th annual Infertility Awareness Shabbat, March 23 – 26, 2023!

Your synagogue can participate in a number of ways. 

Minimum participation is to make an announcement during the Shabbat services of that weekend and include it in the synagogue’s weekly newsletter. Clery and community leaders are welcome to mention this topic in their weekly sermon.

Host a Challah Bake

Challah Bake

Bring your community together for a special evening to bake challah and perform the mitzva of hafrashat challah – separating the challah – while reciting the Fertility Prayer.

IAS #onecandle Initiative

Onecandle

As part of the ongoing national #onecandle initiative, this is a specific community based awareness campaign where people within one Jewish community pray at candle lighting for individuals facing infertility. Encourage the entire community to get onboard and sign up to receive the prayer list  for candle lighting over IAS 2023.

Panel Event

Host an informative and impactful evening where community members can learn more about infertility from experts in the field, and find out how they as the friends, family members and community can help support those navigating this space.

Share a Personal Story

Personal Story

Host a special event where community members hear first hand a personal story from a fertility warrior and fellow community member who is willing to share their personal story of their struggle with infertility. It is bound to be an emotionally impactful evening that will strengthen the bond of the community.
