Volunteer
We would love you to become part of Yesh Tikva! Our mission is two-fold
- To provide psychosocial resources and tools to those struggling with infertility.
- To raise awareness of infertility throughout the Jewish community.
We welcome caring individuals – whether or not you or a loved one has been touched by infertility – to become a Yesh Tikva volunteer!
Yesh Tikva has numerous volunteering opportunities for you to consider. We welcome your help and time to assist couples facing infertility, while raising sensitivity throughout the Jewish community.
You can start by joining the conversation. Follow us on social media, like, comment, share and participate in giving infertility a voice. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube
Whatever you do well, we have a way/ place to share your talents and support your peers facing infertility:
Appreciation Crew – all year – fundraising
Yesh Tikva provides counselling and psychosocial services for men and women experiencing infertility – and donors ensure our services are always free! As a Thanker volunteer, you will let us know which day or two during the month that you would like to reach out by phone or handwritten note to share a heartfelt thanks to donors.
Infertility Awareness Shabbat – now until Passover – raising awareness
Passover is a holiday with a strong focus on children. The Torah charges us to “tell your children (Exodus 13:8)” of the great miracles of the Exodus. So much of what we do on Seder night is “so that the children will ask.” But what about those who have not yet been blessed with children? Even as we face Passover in quarantine and physically socially distanced, let us not forget the 1 in 8 men and women throughout the Jewish community who are still facing the challenge of infertility this holiday. This year on March 11, 2021 we be hosting the Fifth Annual IAS. Partner with us in garnering the support of your synagogue and friends to participate in this year’s virtual event.
Peer Mentors – all year – must go through our training
Peer mentors are men or women who have been on the infertility journey themselves. We then match Peer Mentor volunteers with a current Yesh Tikva participant. Our process is specific to offer the best experience and outcome for the man or woman experiencing infertility.
Storyteller – all year – fundraising or raising awareness
Do you have a story of infertility to share? You may be a family member, one or both of the couple. Many are hesitant to reach out for help or are overwhelmed with navigating the process. We welcome Storyteller volunteers who help normalize the infertility experience.
Host an InfertiliTEA – small event on your schedule – raising awareness
Prior to the pandemic, volunteers hosted a gathering in their homes to support those in their community facing infertility. Today, it is even easier to invite friends and host an InfertiliTEA on your favorite video platform. Each event will include a member of Yesh Tikva team and Clinical Consultant and support group moderator, Dvora Entin, LCSW, PMH-C. An InfertiliTEA is a one hour social event with an interactive talk and in which tools are shared on how to better support those facing infertility. And hear personal stories of men and women in your community facing infertility.
